Why supervision matters at office cleaning companies
What happens when there’s no supervisor
You know the pattern. You hire a cleaning company, the first week or two everything looks great, and then it slips. The corners stay dusty, the bathrooms are “fine” but no better than that, and the floor… well, let’s say it’s seen better days.
Why does this happen? Because nobody is checking the work. The cleaner shows up, does just enough, and leaves. No one to inspect. No one to point out that the conference room got skipped. No one to notice the cleaning solution ran out and they’re mopping with plain water.
A cleaning company without a supervisor is like a restaurant with no head chef. Someone is cooking, but nobody owns the result.
What a supervisor actually does at a cleaning company
A supervisor isn’t “one more cleaner.” They’re the link between you and the crew that does the cleaning. Here’s what the job looks like in practice:
Regular site checks: the supervisor comes to your office (even when they’re not cleaning themselves), inspects the quality of the work, and fills out a checklist. Not a quick glance. A real review.
A checklist for every visit: every cleaner works from a list. The supervisor confirms the list was actually done, not just that the office “looks clean.”
Covering for staff: your regular cleaner is out sick? The supervisor arranges a replacement, not you. You don’t even need to hear about it.
A single point of contact: got a problem? A complaint? A special request? You call the supervisor. No hunting for “the office” number, no filling out a form. One call, and it’s handled.
Ongoing training: the supervisor teaches new cleaners the specific routine for your office. Every office is different, and what works in one place won’t necessarily suit yours.
How to check that your cleaning company really supervises
Want to know if your cleaning company is serious? Ask these questions:
- “Do you assign a dedicated supervisor?” “Yes” is the only acceptable answer. “The cleaner supervises themselves” means there’s no supervision.
- “How many times a month do they come to inspect?” Once every two weeks at the minimum. Once a week is better.
- “Is there a checklist? Can I see it?” A serious company will happily show you. A company that stalls is a bad sign.
- “Who handles a complaint?” If the answer is “email the office,” that’s reason enough to walk away. If it’s “call Ronen, your supervisor, here’s his number,” that’s the real thing.
- “What happens when a cleaner is sick?” How long until a replacement shows up? A day? Two hours? At all?
Supervision at CleanTeam: how we work
At CleanTeam, every client gets a dedicated supervisor. Not “someone from the office,” but a specific person who knows your office, the cleaners working there, and your particular requirements.
The supervisor runs a surprise inspection at least once every two weeks. There’s a detailed checklist. And there’s a direct phone number: one call, and the problem is handled within 24 hours.
